Now is the time to change Australia. This country and its policies of cruelty are now in the worldwide media, as a dire warning of how not to treat migrants and refugees, in the wake and ongoing surge of the European refugees crisis following the war in Syria, which Australia is now involved in. We have to change and it's up to us, to show the world, and each other, and ourselves and our government that we are humanitarian, compassionate and tolerant, and won't stand for anything else. Follow Angela Merkel's lead, we have to or Australia will descend into a fascist state. This applies not only to the refugees, and detention concentration camps, but also to the way Aboriginal people are treated, and to the policies of "casualisation" (eg of academics/intellectuals), to the unliveable "newstart" social security that so many (artists/intellectuals) are being forced onto. This is all interconnected. We have to act to save ourselves, and each other and this country.
